Hearth Termites

saw it before, but now poked it and what a mess in there!

Rotten to the core

cut some fresh plywood for a little flooring support.
lath rotten completely, pulled from exterior wall. Also pulled all studs, some still with active termites.
No longer smelling mildew in house, finally

Bracing and fissures

noticed some problems with cracks appearing in ceiling. As wood drying, the walls are settling and fissure appears to have made itself present on chimney as well, exterior, north side at stucco corner.
set up some basic braces to support top of exterior and living room walls. Did not help with fissuring

Demolition Begins

first step, removing the sink, built-in
second step, excavating the wall behind built-in, window surround, above tile.
third step, removing tile, buckling, cement board rot, spidering of mold up lath, rotten lat and studs
fourth step, removing wall and lath on sink wall, mirror cabinet, ceiling plaster
fifth, pulling toilet, pulling tub out of the way
sixth, removing next section of wall behind toilet, revealing 4inch main vent
seventh, hammering out concrete floor, cleaning detritus and debris from wall beds and ground/dirt

Getting Keys

Talk about doing walk thru with keys and empty house, finding the floors rotten in living room, smell of gas, rotten wall under kitchen sink, back deck partially repaired, new garage door with 50 year old springs
